Advancing Australia’s capacity for scientific and social leadership through world-class education

The Stanford Australia Foundation supports outstanding Australian leaders working in the non-profit and scientific
research sectors to undertake executive education at Stanford University—developing the leadership,
initiative and innovation which Australia needs to meet complex challenges and build a more resilient
future and nation in 2025 and beyond.

About the Foundation

We believe that when education transforms the right leader, its impact can echo far beyond the classroom—changing lives, organisations and the world for future generations.

The Stanford Australia Foundation (SAF) invests in the leadership potential of Australian residents working in the non-profit and scientific sectors. Our mission is to strengthen Australia’s capacity to address complex challenges—by enabling purpose-driven leaders to undertake transformative executive education at Stanford University.Founded by Stanford alumni in 2008, SAF exists to give emerging leaders in the non-profit and scientific research sectors the opportunity to step away from daily pressures, gain global perspective, and return with the tools, insight, and ambition to drive change in their organisations and communities.Importantly, the journey doesn't end when the program concludes. SAF scholars return to a vibrant alumni network—where they connect with fellow recipients, engage with Stanford faculty visiting Australia, and contribute to a growing community of purpose-driven leaders committed to advancing the public good.

Why Stanford
“This is an opportunity to be immersed in a Stanford educational experience which broadens your perspective and connects you with people who are entrepreneurial, collaborative and truly understand the power of positive leadership in changing the world.” Louise Baxter, CEO Starlight Foundation

Stanford University is one of the world’s leading centres of interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and leadership development. Its executive education programs challenge leaders to think bigger, lead more bravely, and collaborate across boundaries.
